Carlos Coto (“Coto”) is a Bilingual Mental Performance Consultant and will graduate with his M.A. in Sport & Performance Psychology in June 2020 from Denver University in Colorado. Coto is currently pursuing his CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant) accreditation through AASP, and specializes in performance enhancement through mental skills training and development, both in English and Spanish. Coto’s dream is for performers to achieve excellence through their performance domains, which is his focus in working with people.
Experience, Education, and Training
Coto was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica and came to the United States in 2014 to pursue his education and obtained his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the New York Institute of Technology. Coto is currently completing a Master’s degree in Sport & Performance Psychology, with a specialty in the LatinX population, at the University of Denver. There, he is being supervised by some of the top sport psychologists in the country and is expected to graduate from his program in May 2020. In addition, Coto is currently supporting the sport and performance psychology of one of Premier’s professional sport organizations (as well as numerous other projects and clients).
With a background in different sports and performing arts (specifically soccer and the violin, respectively), Coto was a 4-year captain of the NCAA Division II men’s soccer team at the New York Institute of Technology, winning a conference title and several individual accolades throughout his college career. Although he has since retired from his collegiate soccer career, Coto continues to engage in sporting activities, with a passion for running.
Coto is currently finishing up his Master’s degree and will be eligible for certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology in June 2020.
