David comes to Premier from the University Athletics Department. David works with the Premier team on the Leadership U initiative at the University of Minnesota. Leadership U is a program for all student-athletes to build emotional intelligence and leadership skills. In addition, he provides support for the Premier Mindset program as well as supporting our sport psychologists with presentations and workshops for teams and organizations.
Experience, Education, Training
David grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Minnesota where he received his bachelor’s degree in English Literature. During his time as an undergraduate, David worked as the administrative intern at the University of Minnesota where he assisted the senior leadership team in special projects. David later worked as an intern in the leadership development area and helped build a program called Leadership U to teach leadership skills to student-athletes. He is currently completing his master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Policy Development.
Before he worked at the University of Minnesota, David was a professional swimmer who won numerous World Championship and National Championship titles. He capped off his career at the Rio Olympic games bringing home gold and bronze medals in the 400M Medley Relay and 100M Backstroke. He has also spent time as a high school boy’s swim head coach, leading his team to a state title and earning the Minnesota state coach of the year award.
