Simon Almaer, MA MBA is bringing his playing, coaching and business experiences to the field of sport psychology. He works with athletes, performers, coaches, administrators and business teams to help them improve their performance or the performance of others. “I have seen how sport can be a positive influence in the development of young people and that the mental side of the game is often the difference in both performance and enjoyment of sport. Furthermore, the use of these mental skills can be applied effectively in so many disciplines.”
Background, Education and Training
Simon was raised in London, England and earned both an undergraduate and graduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Oxford. After emigrating to the United States, Simon pursued a successful career in Corporate America in a variety of leadership positions covering brand marketing, technology, and general management at leading companies such as Pillsbury and Cargill. During this time, Simon also earned his MBA at the University of Minnesota. He specialized in building new businesses and operated businesses around the globe. Simon earned his Masters in Sport and Performance Psychology at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Simon Almaer played cricket at the professional level in England earning two Blues at the University of Oxford as an opening batsmen. On moving to the United States, Simon represented the United States cricket team before “hanging up his cricket boots.” Though cricket is his true passion as an athlete, he has been a regular soccer player and golfer.
License and Certifications
Simon holds national soccer coaching licenses and diplomas through the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
